Everyone in the workplace has those moments where they have to be ready for “that awkward discussion.” Whether it is approaching your supervisor about your benefit package, talking to your peer about a mistake they made or being the first one to break the sound barrier between you and a former close friend who had that disappointing misunderstanding.
In this training we will discuss why workers and friends are apprehensive and passive about having those difficult conversations and what to do about it. We’ll cover a 4-point script that keeps the emotional conversation on track, reducing defensiveness even when facing or offering constructive criticism, preparing for the right approach and feeling confident about how you handled the difficult discussion.
The takeaways from this workshop will be:
- Sharpening our personal boundaries when it comes to communication.
- Overcoming the tendency of saying nothing and becoming resentful.
- Developing phrases, scripts and mature discussion points that are respectful and firm.
